John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says it is true that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' first inductee, was honored with this honor in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for a lot of people all over the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite side of the world or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the very first thing that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles following a performance with a small folk bands. It was co-written by and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear the song's early versions and was aware that it would become a top 10 hit. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days afterward.
